This was a pretty random sketch I did of my friend Jun-Hee about a month back. It was her birthday and I thought that it'd be kinda cool to make her a card with a drawing of her on the front. To be honest, I was a little apprehensive about giving it to her because I wasn't sure what she'd think of my portrayal of her... It's a bit of a hard thing to get right-the way you see something usually isn't the same as what another person sees, so it makes it difficult when the person viewing it IS the person they're seeing! Wow-that's confusing...
But, anyway... Turns out she really liked it and took a photo of the card and emailed it to her family. She told me that they all thought it looked quite a lot like her, only slightly more round in the face. Her response to that comment was 'well, I've put on weight while I've been here in New Zealand, so it's pretty much right anyway!' Ha ha ha. I'm gonna miss her when she goes back to Korea...
Please excuse the slightly crappy scan... It kinda skewed the image at a funny angle and messed up the contrast etc. so this looks a little different to the original.
Don't know whether the border works, but I stuck it on anyway.
JEEZ I hope she doesn't mind me sticking her face up here...
-Drawn with an HB mechanical pencil
-Approx. 8cm by 8cm (I think...)

So freakin' amazing...you're so much better at drawing than I am! I can't believe you did that with a mechanical pencil!! Absolutely beautiful.

Very nice Dani, very nice. I've yet to tackle anything with lots of hair; I don't think I have the patience for it. I especially like the highlights in the hair, and the lips are perfect.
The only thing I can think to criticize is the nose; the lines seem a little too thick, giving it a slightly comical look. But I'm just being picky
Awesome job, it's always good to see something from you.
Now all together deviants....Can we say AMAZING!?
this is absolutly awsome! I love it. I would really love how to learn how to draw....I have such a un-steady hand though.
But this is just awsome. I love everything about it....
I love seeing things from you Dani. Just make me thing wow! lol
He he-fank you so many oodles, Emi! As if! You've got so much talent, Emi-this hardly even looks like the photo I copied it from! The left eye is much higher than it's supposed to be, as is the nose which is way too dark... The scan makes it look like her lips are so much huger than they actually are... He he, I'm so bad-an artist isn't supposed to point out the mistakes!
Yeah-I hadn't used the ol' mechie in quite a while so I thought I'd sketch her with it. The drawing itself was actually pretty tiny so it wasn't too hard to do!
Thank you soooo much again, Emi! It means so much!
